Okay if anyone would like to come and see the wedding,
that would be lovely. The more people I have with me the better. Also Bali
is really an amazing and vivid place in the world, full of intensity and color
and so many other things and it is now a part of my life that is difficlt to share
with my friends and family and it would be so lovely to share it.
However, it is not for the faint of heart. Let me list the difficulties: people burn
trash which means plastics and there is litter everywhere, rarely can you find a western toilet,
only squatting pans and often in dark and dirty places. No toilet paper either. Traffic is really
really crazy and scary and
public transportation is terribly uncomfortable, small blue buses with maybe 6 or 8 people crammed
in and usually one or two are smoking and the windows often don't work. Dogs are often rabid.
No one speaks english and if they do it is unintelligible and too fast, the culture is so complex
that there is no way to understand all the mayhem going on around you, this may be fun for some but
dizzying for others. It is tropical which means it is really easy to get sick, I got parasites on
my first visit and was more sick than I ever have been, I finally saw a doctor and had to wait for
about 4 hours with no organization at all, not too difficult unless you are violently ill. Also the
food, the food is totally different and I suspect that like myself, you will only like a few things
but have trouble swallowing after the first bite or two of most dishes. Also, and this is important:
I will be so incredibly busy studying and preparing for the wedding and bumbling through the scary
process of getting all of Yuli's relatives' permission to marry that you will be on your own, I wont
have time to help with accomodations or transportation or much of anything else. This will be a trip
to Bali as if I wasnt there only you will see a Hindu wedding with a groom that is totally out of place
and doesn't know what to do, and that will be me... If that sounds good lets talk and I can tell you more.
By the way plane tickets are around $1200.00 but food and accommodations are cheap
